A fixture at Southend for fifty years. Pilots learn here, hire here, and come back for the fly-outs.
Seawing Flying Club has been at Southend since 1976, on the belief that flying should be within reach. It is a place to learn, to hire an aeroplane once you are licensed, and to share the ordinary thrill of being in the air.
The club is member-run. A volunteer committee looks after the aircraft, the training programme, and the social side: barbecues, fly-outs, and the noticeboard of who went solo this month.

How do I start?
Begin with learn to fly, or book a flight experience if you want an hour in the air before you commit. Most students solo within a few months of flying regularly. There is no upper age limit. You can start lessons before 16; you must be 16 to fly solo and 17 to hold a PPL.
